Poetry Friday: Fall’s Fire

Happy Poetry Friday!

The top of the flowering cherry tree in our backyard is visible from the window of my office desk. This morning, when I lifted the shade, the sun was hitting it in a way that made it a beacon of light and warmth. This tree, beautiful in all seasons, has offered inspiration for many of my poems. This post was not what I had planned for today, but I couldn’t resist.

Wishing you all a Thanksgiving filled with light and warmth.

Beautiful! Just beautiful. I love the big full “heads of” maple, flame and gold hair I imagine on the trees. They are so brassy in their beauty. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Rose, what a lovely cherry tree. I read this earlier in the week when I was in Columbus. I’m just getting back to commenting, but while I was there I appreciated the fall colors so much. Partly thanks to your words–“lit with fall’s fire finding / warmth in morning’s chill” Just what I experienced as I walked to the conference venue. Thank you!

Oh, I know you had a great time at NCTE! I used to go regularly, but haven’t been since 2019. I miss seeing all the people. Today my cherry tree is almost bare – lost most of its leaves at the end of last week.
