The wind was blowing a bit as I left the post office yesterday morning. I lowered my head and made my way to my car, came around to the driver’s side, and opened the door.
Good morning!
Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry!
I saw you coming and thought to myself, “No, she’s really not going to do that.”
Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry!
I think you’re looking for the other blue CRV over there.
Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry!
Don’t worry. My wife does that all the time.
Most of us have probably done it before – tried to get into a car in a parking lot that looks just like ours. But I must say, I’ve never before actually opened the door and found someone sitting in the car! Allan and I are at the age where we keep track of our senior moments. We had a good laugh over that one! I’m sure the gentleman in the car and his wife did, too.
Imagine the Possibilities 
Oh how I chuckled at this. Years ago, I opened a jeep and began loading my groceries. “What are you doing?”
“Sorry, I thought this was my car. I have a green Jeep just like it!”
Trouble was, that day I had driven the other car, and you should have seen the look on the guy’s face when I walked over to a silver and red Jeep!

This made me chuckle. I have actually put groceries in the wrong van and then wondered why my key wouldn’t work in the ignition. Unfortunately this happened when I was much, much younger so it couldn’t be counted as a senior moment–just a tired teachermom moment!

Love it! I teach told me yesterday these were not senior moments – just system overload moments. Somehow that makes me feel better. Your writing was so engaging – I was in the car with you and laughing alongside you.

That is funny! Another teacher at my school has the same car and I’ve made a similar mistake! Once I had to tell another coworker (when I had a different car) that they were trying to get into my car… that was awkward! At least you came away with a funny story for you and the couple in the car!

This is great. I could see myself doing the same thing. I loved the way the thoughts went back and forth. I felt like I was there.

At least you found your car, as opposed to my day of wandering the parking lot trying to remember where my car was. Pretty funny Rose!

It’s not a senior thing, Rose, you were just focused on the many things you had to accomplish and one CRV looks like another. I told that to myself when I tried to unlock a car that wasn’t mine and couldn’t figure out why the key didn’t work.

Thank you for sharing this story. Liam has done this before, mostly because he has his “head in the clouds” thinking his big thoughts. Not funny, but funny. Glad the gentleman had a good sense of humor.

Oh, yes! I have done that. I always look around to see if someone is having a good chuckle on my behalf. But, I must say, I never got into a car with someone sitting in it. I laughed at your senior moment. Loved this piece.
