Happy Poetry Friday! Catherine at Reading to the Core has the roundup this week with thoughts on unanswered questions. Be sure to stop by for lots of poetry goodness.
It’s hard to believe it’s December already! I was thinking the other day about the holiday season and how every year it seems to start earlier with one blending seamlessly into the next. It’s not uncommon to see the goblins and ghosts of Halloween sharing shelf space with turkeys, and then even before the frost is on the pumpkin, snowflakes and Santas take over. Time has a way of speeding up as we get older, quite the opposite of when we were kids. So that’s what came to mind for me this Poetry Friday.

I kind of like the way holidays meld into one another, a parade of joy…thank you for your poem! xo

You’re right about holidays blending into one another and starting earlier each year. I have mixed feelings about seeing Christmas stuff out even before Halloween. I’d prefer to savor each holiday as it comes, in their own time. . .

I generally can handle Christmas near Thanksgiving, but not before Halloween!

Yes! My sibs and I were just bemoaning this – and our desire to linger at Thanksgiving! You captured that transition in your poem’s turn!

It does seem to move endlessly from one holiday to the next. I like the list form that brings forth the images.

I know some of the big box stores had some Christmas things out in October, amazing! You’re shown a poetic blending, Rose! I still don’t have the tree up, but soon!

I like how you compressed the passage of time in the middle of your poem. Well played!

The last three months of the year do seem to be one giant kaleidoscope of colors and images! Your poem captures the cacophony perfectly!
